The Real Estate AI Productivity Revolution: What the Data Actually Shows
McKinsey put a $110B+ value tag on AI in real estate. Two years later, the numbers look conservative. Here is what is happening on the ground.

When the original AI-in-real-estate value estimates landed, plenty of brokers shrugged. Real estate, they argued, is a contact sport. You cannot automate trust. They were right about trust and wrong about almost everything else.
Where the value is actually showing up
- Lead response time dropping from hours to seconds, with measurable lift in conversion.
- Listing prep cycles compressing from days to a single afternoon.
- Transaction coordination errors falling as AI watches the paperwork in the background.
- Marketing output multiplying without a proportional increase in payroll.
What the headline numbers miss
Industry-wide value estimates always assume even adoption. In reality, the gains are clustering in the brokerages and teams who moved first. The productivity gap between an AI-native team and a legacy team is now wide enough to show up in basic KPIs: deals per agent, average days on market, agent retention.
The catch-up cost
Every quarter you delay, the early adopters compound an advantage in data, agent skill, and brand. The good news: the tools are dramatically better and easier to deploy than they were even 12 months ago. The bad news: that is true for your competitors too.
If you have been waiting for the AI hype to mature, it has. The question is no longer whether to deploy it. The question is whether you deploy it on a connected platform or bolt it onto a stack you will regret in 18 months.
